Combat & Defense
Vinland’s combat mechanics allow tokens to challenge each other to skirmishes to pillage liquidity from each other. They also have an effect on the win condition of the token that participates, depending on the battle’s outcome.
In this mechanic’s first iteration, combat initiates when the hexes of two competing token civilizations come in contact. A 60-second timer begins for token owners to wager up to $250 in their token’s army. Once the timer ends, the token that received the higher cumulative wager amount from its players wins – the winning coin receives between 50-100% of the losing token’s wager (depending on the parameters of that particular region), which is used in a buy transaction of the winning token that is distributed proportionally to winning combatants. The winning token’s horizon liquidity condition decreases between 5-10% depending on the region, while the losing token’s horizon liquidity increases by the same amount.
As two territories approach one another, token owners are offered the option to build walls. Token owners are given the option of dedicating resources (1% of owned tokens * current price) into defending their territory. If the total investment from token owners passes the threshold (1% of total owned tokens * current price), their villagers build walls on that side of the map, shielding your token from combat. Combat will not be initiated if either or both tokens successfully build walls. Investments will be returned to users if the threshold isn’t met before combat initiates. If walls are built, 100% of wall contributions are returned to the victorious token. If the token loses, 50% of wall investments are returned to users.
